I have updated my shop for the last time this year! All listings are live.
Before I write anything about this shop update, I want to thank you all for your support of my shop over the years. I recently passed the 6,000 sales mark in my shop and I can’t believe that! As of today, there are 1300 positive reviews posted for my shop as well and I truly appreciate the time it takes to leave those reviews. Thank you!!!
This year has been very up and down for us and while I wasn’t sure that I would be doing any natural dyeing, I ended up making time for it over the past couple of months and I had a lot of fun. I wish I could have done more! Many of you have inquired about playsilks, and I am so sorry that I am not offering them. The price for them has increased while the quality has decreased. I am not willing to offer a more expensive product to you that is of lesser quality.
However, I was able to dye some beautiful organic cotton velvet and I am offering it in adorable little bundles of nine naturally dyed colors. These sets would make the perfect unique gift for a crafty friend!
I also have a small number of naturally dyed organic cotton gauze scarves listed. You can’t go wrong with these in my opinion. They have been my favorite accessory ever since I started dyeing them. Every time I dye a batch it is very hard not to keep one of every color for myself! (My rule is that I can only keep one!)
I have the last of my goat milk soap for the year listed now. There are two kinds. Orange spice is a favorite every year. It smells delicious and festive and reminds me of orange pomanders. I always try to make 3 batches because it is so popular! (I make soap in batches of 20 bars. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned that!) The second type of soap I have available is a new one called Christmas Eve. It is also very wonderful! It has fir balsam, black spruce, orange, cinnamon, and a couple of other essential oils in it. I only had enough of those oils to make one batch so you’ll have to snatch it up quickly!!! If you buy some, please let me know what you think. If I’m still making soap next year, I’ll make more of this one!
Finally, a little story about the cherry cutting boards I have listed. Jonny is very busy, and Keats is at college, but I really wanted to offer some live-edge cherry cutting boards. They are so pretty and unique and I love them! I asked Jonny if he could teach me how to make them myself. He is very accommodating and was glad to do so. The first step was to go through our stack of live-edge cherry wood that is fully cured and ready to be used. That was fun! Next, we had to look each plank over to see how many cutting boards we could get out of it, eliminating bad sections and making sure each cutting board we cut could fit in a medium-sized flat rate box for mailing. Next, Jonny cut the boards into shorter lengths to start running them through the planer. Oh my goodness. Planing takes FOREVER. I started getting antsy as we ran each board through over and over again to get it nice and smooth. Jonny encouraged me that the next part, routing the edges, would be more fun. “I don’t know. This is really slow,” I told him. I wasn’t convinced it would be fun. I think he was probably disappointed in how quickly I lost interest in the whole thing. I wandered off and started looking through the wood pile again, suggesting other boards that we should use. Jonny told me that we needed to stick with the ones we were already working on. SO BORING. I soon decided that “we” had done enough for the day. I am not destined to be a woodworker like my dad, my husband, and my sister. It’s just not for me. I do enjoy filling little tins with homemade wood sealer though! So I guess I have my part and Jonny has his. Thankfully, he didn’t mind finishing up the cutting boards for me.
I think that’s it! Thank you again!!!

I’m soo glad you were able to make time for dying! I bought another scarf because I just can’t resist..SOO pretty, comfy, and super useful for a bit of warmth in Fall and Winter, and keeping my hair and face covered in the Spring as I am terribly allergic to pollen! Still praying for you all ❤️
